Leather Type and Thickness
Leather is an organic material and comes in varying thicknesses. The final thickness of the collar after the two layers are stitched together will be included below so you have an idea of how rigid the collar will feel. What is used to make these collars are two types of leather called Latigo and Harness Leather. Both leathers are full grain leather that are vegetable tanned and stuffed with waxes and oils and are used to make horse tack and other gear intended for outdoor use. I get my leather from Hermann Oak which is a tannery in St. Louis, MO and has NO HARMFUL CHEMICALS.

Burgundy Latigo Leather
The burgundy latigo leather that is currently in stock is .25" thick when two layers are stitched together. This leather has a glossy look and luxurious feel but is still well suited for hard outdoor use.

Black Harness Leather
The black harness leather that is currently in stock is .32" thick after two layers are stitched together. This leather has a matte look and waxy feel. It is thick and rigid and leaves BS at the door when you are looking for a workhorse in working dog collars. It is very well suited for hard outdoor use.

Belt and Collar Measurement Guide
To get the measurement for any belt or collar offered here take your existing belt or collar and measure from the leather on the buckle end to the hole that it's worn in most and that will be the belt or collar measurement. Even if the belt or collar isn't worn on the center hole, the measurement you arrive to will be the new measurement of the belt or collar that you order. The measurement will be the center hole on your new belt or collar.
If neither one of these methods are suitable for you when ordering a collar, then measure your dogs neck and add 1" to that measurement.
